The Healer

Losing a husband to cancer in 1991 at the hands of medical science, the artist now studies spiritual healing and meditation. The vision of this painting came to the artist when she was most diligent in her healing studies.

Nearing completion of the painting and searching for its name, she came upon American Indian Folk Lore identifying the wolf as the power animal of the healer. Amazed at the connection to her vision, the artist had the perfect name for painting.

The Seeker

The Seeker is one who has risen above the problems of the little self; the 5 earthly passions which hold us to the lower planes; lust, anger, greed, attachment, and vanity. The Seeker is one who travels toward the Devine as a river forever flows towards the ocean; with elements which twist its course, but cannot alter its destination.

Ye cannot become a Seeker so long as objects rule thee, and as long as ye look for the faults of others and excuse thine own. Solve the mysteries of they little self before ye seek the Great Mystery (of God). The Eagle is a Native American symbol for Wisdom.

Beyond Earthly Bounds

(Creator is depicted within the moon) “When ye love one another beyond conditions, then ye know how to love me, thy creator.”

Male and female love forms a complete circle of unity. The female gives from her heart as the male receives through his. The male gives from his loins as the female receives through hers. This circle of love reflects the many sacred circles within Native American Spirituality.

The sacred circles are a manifestation of Divine Creator’s plan and a secret connecting all life. The journey of life has but one goal, teaching us HOW TO LOVE. If we learn well, we obtain the ability to love beyond conditions, and thus outgrow our earthly bounds.

The Last Foothold

This painting depicts the three species of wolf in the North American continent: the Grey Wolf, the red Wolf, and the Arctic Wolf. Due to man’s vengeance, the wolf’s only stronghold in our 50 states remains in Alaska, although re-colonization efforts show success in Yellowstone Park and a few other areas in the lower 49 states.

This scene in an Arctic Landscape: and hence the title, THE LAST FOOTHOLD.

Cougar Clan

How many cougars are in this painting? Upon first glance, three; but keep looking and many more will appear (along with a few Indians). Susan tried to count them but could never come up with a consistent number, but continually counted over 20.

Cougar is an important totem to Susan, and represents: The loaner who leads through example.

White Eagle Feather

Eagles and their feathers are symbols of wisdom within most tribes. The white eagle feather symbolizes wisdom from the WORD of Divine Spirit. According to the medicine wheel, facing North brings the WORD. The quartz crystal is placed to the North in the medicine wheel as a tool for accessing Divine.

Panther Spirit

The spirit of panther is one of quiet contemplation, leading to inner knowing: self-realism. When one is in touch with this spirit and yields to it, it can bring a knowledge of oneself and the path one has come to earth to walk. Once this is learned, there is no stopping the drive and dedication to “get the job done”. Those who achieve good and great things have met panther and tasted his medicine.

Conversations with a Flute Player

The Indian who is harmonious with Divine Oneness realizes that Spirit flows through all of life, not just man. This spirit, which gives life, brings a kinship to all living things.

This spiritually apt individual knows that telepathy is a universal means of communication which permeates Divine Spirit, the animals and plants around us, and Mother Earth.

The Guardian

According to Indian Spirituality, animal souls who desire a human incarnation may choose to raise their spiritual level through assisting humans on the earth plane. If you wish such assistance, you must ask for an animal guardian who possesses abilities to compliment your own. The owl guardian symbolizes a need to cultivate psychic powers, and is a vision shared by a friend to Susan.
